Portrayed in transit of the Panama Canal this ship was very typical of
her owners;
somewhat stately in appearance and fitted with a very high proportion
of refrigerated space
for the vast trade in foodstuffs from Australia, New Zealand and South
Africa, principally to the U.K.
Built by Cammell Laird at Birkenhead, she spent her later years in the service of Royal Mail Lines, an associate of her parent company, Furness Withy Group.
