The twenty seven ships of the "A" class formed the basis
of the post-war reconstruction programme that took the Alfred Holt group
of companies from the aftermath of war to the dawn of the container age.
They characterised in every way not only the essence of Holt designed tonnage but the very nature of pre-container age shipping.
Their design was closely derived from that of the pre-war "Glenearn" class A group also represented in this series.
CYCLOPS is portrayed off the coast of China in the late nineteen sixties.
