Post-War British Merchant ShipsThis series of prints has become a firmly established and much respected pictorial record of the last great age of conventional shipping under the British flag.It is intended that the series will ultimately cover most of the major owners, the selected vessels being ships that by their design and appearance typified the characteristics and history of the lines that operated them. The original paintings from which the prints are reproduced are in oils on canvas. Meticulously researched and executed in the utmost detail they combine the very best of ship portraiture with an atmospheric rendering of sea, sky and land. Eight editions have been published of which two are sold out. A ninth is in preparation; this will depict the Elder Dempster Line "D" class cargo ship DUNKWA. All editions conform rigorously to a uniform set of specifications with
regard to size, format, paper and standards of reproduction. Margins are plain white, without embellishment. The lower margin carries
a brief text as follows: Prints are available only from the publisher, via mail order. |
